The stars have aligned, once again, as extraordinary beauty shook hands with extraordinary strength last May 8 at Cove, Okada Hotel for Grit + Glam. Once more, Miss Universe and health and beauty leader FRONTROW joined forces after their successful collaboration with Hope 4 Change foundation (to whom FRONTROW pledged over P5M) last December. If last year’s partnership was geared toward the education of young children from the slums of Tondo, the recent Grit + Glam was a celebration of health and beauty – aiming to promote well being to party-goers in a fun and delightful way.
This time around, the three Miss Universe Queens Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017), Iris Mittenaere (2016) and Pia Wurtzbach (2015), who were the main stars of last year’s charity gala, shared the spotlight with the World’s Strongest Men – Hafthor Bjornsson aka “The Mountain”, Mateusz Kieliszkowski, and Brian Shaw.
The World’s Strongest Man is a “strength athletics” competition organized by IMG, which is the same group that organizes Miss Universe. Their most recent contest this 2018 took place in Manila where Hafthor, Mateusz and Brian were the top three finalists.
Apart from throwing a party overflowing with premium drinks and awesome beats brought to guests by EmpirePH DJs, Grit + Glam put the Miss Universe beauties and Strongest Men to test with an onstage duel. As a team, the three Miss Universe Queens went against the three World’s Strongest Men for a series of fun challenges. So guess who won – the beauties or the fierce beasts???
For those of you who were rooting for the Strongest Men, I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but it was the beauties who conquered the challenges for that evening. GIRLS WIN! So I guess that gives us a clearer picture of who rules the World, or the Universe rather, does it? Hmm…
Kidding aside, Miss Universe Organization President Paula Shugart, who could not help but express her gratitude, shared in an interview, “I am so happy to be back in the Philippines with the girls. Last time was wonderful. It was an experience that I treasured and hung on to. And now I’m happy to be back in only a few months. I thank FRONTROW for supporting Miss Universe and for making this dream of ours come true, to see the girls together with our Strongest Men”.
FRONTROW CEO Sam Verzosa who is also extremely grateful to the Miss Universe Organization for constantly choosing FRONTROW as their partner here in the Philippines stated, “By bringing the World’s Strongest Men together with the three Queens, we hope that we’ve inspired more people to stay strong and fit as well as beautiful inside and out. After all, FRONTROW is all about health and beauty so it is our duty to spread and promote awareness on this.”
Sealed by a fashion show featuring Mercator models, FRONTROW indeed succeeded on its mission to emphasize the importance of health, fitness and beauty for a cause through this wonderful celebration of Grit + Glam.
